                This is Abhinav Kaul and I will take you through the motions of today’s session on Dalal Street and bring you cues and trading tips from market veterans for upcoming trading sessions.

                Benchmark equity index BSE Sensex advanced 195 points to end at 31,882 and the Nifty went past the 10,000-mark for the first time since August 7.

                Auto stocks gained after a less-than-expected goods and services tax (GST) cess and rising vehicle sales.

                Optimistic buying in blue-chip stocks ahead of release of industrial production data for July and retail inflation for August, to be released tomorrow, drove stocks higher.

                Private lender IndusInd Bank has entered into an exclusivity agreement with Bharat Financial Inclusion to evaluate merger between the two companies. IndusInd Bank soared 5.56 per cent to Rs 1,790.65, while Bharat Financial Inclusion settled 3.34 per cent up at Rs 967.25.

                The Supreme Court on Monday directed Jaiprakash Associates to deposit Rs 2,000 crore by October 27. The court also asked the NCLT- appointed interim resolution professional to take over its management and work out a plan to protect the interests of homebuyers and creditors. Shares of Jaiprakash Associates closed 6.42 per cent down at Rs 21.85.

                The GST Council on Saturday exempted small and hybrid cars from any hike but decided to levy an additional 2 per cent to 7 per cent cess on mid-sized and luxury cars as also SUVs.

                IndusInd Bank witnessed the biggest jump in open interest at 34.71 per cent on NSE on Monday. It was followed by Cadila Healthcare, Petronet LNG, Bata India, Havells and PTC.

                On the option front, maximum Put open interest was seen at 9,900 followed by 9,800 and 9,700 strike while maximum Call open interest stood at 10,000 followed by 10,200 strike.

                Nifty index registered the highest daily close in last 23 trading sessions and managed to close above psychological 10,000 mark. It formed a bullish candle on the daily chart and supports are gradually shifting higher.
