                  Barring Nifty Pharma (down 0.04 per cent), all sectoral indices were trading in green at around 11.20 am (IST).

                  Nifty Realty gained 1.20 per cent to 286.30 in trade so far.

                  Shares of Asian Paint (up 1.34 per cent), Bajaj Auto (up 1.32 per cent), Reliance (up 1.30 per cent) and Tata Steel (up 0.78 per cent) were the top gainers on BSE.

                  9.22 am: Sensex, Nifty off to a positive start; Asian Paints, RIL top gainers
                  Benchmark indices opened on a positive note on Tuesday as Asian markets edged higher in morning trade, recovering from a global selloff that was triggered by North Korea’s fresh nuke tests.

                  At 9.22 am, the BSE Sensex was trading 40.68 points, or 0.13 per cent, higher at 31,743.

                  Meanwhile, Nifty50 was trading 5.80 points, or 0.06 per cent higher at 9,918.65.

                  Mazhar Mohammad, Chief Strategist – Technical Research & Trading Advisory at Chartviewindia.in, said that if Monday’s high of 9,988 were to become near term top, traders should prepare themselves for retest of 9,685 levels over a period of time.

                  “Upsides, if any, beyond 9,988 shall continue to be limited and traders should make use of them only to lighten up their long positions,” he said.

                  The BSE Midcap and BSE Smallcap indices gained 0.68 per cent and 0.47 per cent, respectively.

                  Asian Paints led the Sensex gainers. The scrip rose 0.99 per cent to Rs 1,208.40. Reliance Industries, Adani Ports and ONGC advaced 0.94 per cent, 0.79 per cent and 0.74 per cent, respectively.

                  Losers included Sun Pharma which fell 0.72 per cent to Rs 496.95. Bharti Airtel, Coal India and TCS fell 0.53 per cent, 0.51 per cent and 0.41 per cent, respectively.

                  MSCI’s broadest index of Asia-Pacific shares outside Japan was flat in early trade. South Korea’s KOSPI share index and Australian shares both inched up 0.1 per cent. Japan’s Nikkei rose 0.5 percent as the yen weakened, Reuters reported.
